Reseller FAQ

Are your reseller plans anonymous?

We have made every effort to ensure that our reseller system is as anonymous as possible. Server hostnames do not feature our company name nor do any of the control panel systems and you even get a set of branded nameservers such as ns1.yourbrand.com and ns2.yourbrand.com!

Can I brand the control panel?

Yes! The control panel can be completely branded to suit your own company's identity.

Can you migrate my existing web sites?

Yes! We offer a free migration service for up to 30 cPanel accounts from an existing cPanel/WHM service, or up to 10 websites if your server does not use cPanel/WHM or if we're migrating cPanel addon domains to fully fledged cPanel accounts. This service is free of charge within your first 30 days of service. If you have additional accounts to transfer, or need to migrate websites beyond the first 30 days, we can assist with these also but additional charges will apply. Please see here for more information.

If you wish to provide your customers with our hosting but want us to handle the support, then our affiliate program would be more appropriate for you - where we'll pay you a commission for any sale you send out way.

Do I get my own nameservers?

Yes, we include two custom nameservers on all plans. These would be in the format of ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com ensuring that we stay completely out of the picture as far as your clients are concerned.

How do I bill my customers?

Ultimately this is your decision, our system does not lock you into any one particular billing method.

Our server software, cPanel, does have a full API so you are able to link your existing billing software with it, or write your own custom software. We would recommend using one of the pre-written billing systems designed for web hosting, which already integrate with cPanel. With our Agency reseller plans, we include a license for WHMCS, which we feel is one of the best hosting billing solutions out there. On the Freelancer and Studio plans we will provide the license for a small monthly fee, which is much less than what you would pay should you buy the license from WHMCS directly.

WHMCS integrates with more than 50 different payment gateways, such as PayPal, Authorize.net and SagePay so you can easily accept card payments online.

Can you support my customers?

No. The main reason we are able to offer you such a great price to host a large number of sites is because the support burdon us is reduced by you dealing directly with your customers. Even if you are relatively new to this, you will find that in time, and with the help of our extensive knowledge base you will very quickly be able to answer most of your clients' questions. Should you be sent a question you do not understand fully, we will be able to offer you our advice, which you can then relay to your customers.

If you're a designer and you'd prefer not to have to deal with hosting related queries, then you may prefer our Affiliate Program where we'll pay you a referral fee for any customers you send our way. We're then fully responsible for helping and assisting your customer with hosting queries.

What about backups?

We backup your customers' sites once per day, and store 30 historic snapshots, provided the account has fewer than 150,000 files and 100GB data stored. You will have the ability to self-restore individual files, folders, email acccounts, databases and more via your reseller control panel. You can also allow your customers to self-restore themselves, or you can disable this privelege, as you see fit.

Please note that the backups we take are a benefit alone, and though they are extremely reliable, we make no warranty that they will always complete each night or that they will be error free. We therefore recommend that you ensure that you regularly take your own backups of your customers' sites, or otherwise ensure that they do so. Though we will always aim to help you restore from any backups we had, we cannot accept any liability in the event that any data is deleted and we are unable to restore from a backup point.

How soon can I get set up?

Reseller accounts take a little more configuration than a regular shared hosting plan, and given the increased level of server access, we also manually verify every reseller order to prevent fraud. Accounts are therefore normally set up within a few hours of receiving the order, although we guarantee you will wait no more than 24 hours.

Which version of PHP do you run?

This is one of our favourite questions! We don't run just one version, we run multiple versions! At the time of writing, we support 6 versions of PHP on our reseller servers, including the latest version of PHP 8. You will be able to select which version of PHP you use right down to a specific directory in the hosting account. This means that you can continue to run scripts which require older versions of PHP, or test whether your script runs on the latest version of PHP without any risk (as you can easily switch right back again!).

Some hosts offer 'unlimited' sites. Why don't you?

Our number one priority is to ensure that sites hosted on our reseller platform have the best possible uptime, stability and speed. Hosts who offer 'unlimited' site reseller plans generally end up with overly crowded servers and are unable to provide a service that is truly stable. The reality is, unlimited sites on a server is just not possible, there's a finite limit to what can realistically be supported. We would never overload our direct, end-user shared servers to ensure that our customers receive the best possible stability and performance. Why would we want to do anything differently on our reseller platform?

The bottom line is that if you choose a host who offers an unlimited site reseller plan, in the vast majority of cases, you will eventually find that you end up with slow servers and downtime. This is something we seek to avoid with every fibre of our being. If providing a stable service to your customers is important to you, then this model is critical.

What if I need to host more than 100 sites?

If you have 100 sites hosted, congratulations! You're hitting the big time. You have a couple of options. Firstly, you could take a managed CloudVPS or Dedicated Server. You can place as many sites as you like on your own server, and we can provide guidance on what we'd recommend based on the server specification you have chosen. This would even allow you to consider offering your own reseller plans. Alternatively, some of our resellers simply take a second reseller account. You could request this account to be on a different server to your other reseller account, thereby spreading your websites across multiple servers.

I just want to host my own sites, do I have to resell?

A reseller plan is a great way to host a large number of web sites for one monthly fee. There is no requirement that you resell at all!

What resource allocation will each of my accounts have?

Each account you create will be allowed to use up to 1GB RAM and 1 CPU Core. This is generally suitable for 95% of sites you may need to host. If you have customers with more demanding requirements or very busy sites, you can boost these resource allocations, up to 8GB RAM and 5CPU cores, for an additional charge per account.

All boosted sites also receive additional technologies, including server side page caching, and Redis/Memcached database caching. This also provides you a way to make additional revenue or offer premium tiers of hosting plans. Please contact our sales team if you have additional questions about this.
